Writer/Director/Producer: Serena Belsby
Serena was born in Spokane, Washington and raised in Southern California. She spent every summer until the age of sixteen working on her family’s ranch. She drove wheat trucks, herded cattle, moved irrigation pipe, and lined hay bales. “The Merry Graingers” is a tribute to her family and the colorful characters in the region. Serena earned a B.A. in Economics at the University of Texas and an MBA from Texas Christian University. Serena’s first writing endeavor was a one-woman show that she herself performed in Los Angeles, directed by the illustrious Penny Allen. From there she ventured onto screenplays. Her first, “A Second Chance” won grand prize/first place in the Hartley-Merrill International Screenwriting Competition presented at the Cannes Film Festival. Serena is proud to be an alumni of the prestigious Sundance Writer’s Lab. She has also attended its European counterpart, the Plume et Pellicule writers’ workshop sponsored by Dreamago in Sierre, Switzerland. She currently has several film and television projects in various stages of development.
